Bless our little hearts! Six entire years together, bonded, and stuck together like glue! This is such a huge accomplishment for our black love. Per statistics, we weren’t destined to make our marriage what it has grown to be today! Stick with me and see what we’ve learned and our favorite memories on our six year journey together.
This is actually the first time I’ve ever sat Jay down to do a blog post with me. It’s like he’s my featured guest! It’s only two questions, but anyone that’s in a relationship knows that reflection is critical to growth. We have had 6 years of growing together! Let’s jump right in!
What’s the greatest lesson learned from our marriage?
(In a very serious manner) An important lesson that I have learned from being married is to listen to understand and remember that life is not about me. If there are two selfless people working for the purpose of doing what is right in the sight of God, we will not go wrong.
My greatest lesson learned throughout this precious time we have grown together would be that there is always, always, ALWAYS room to have better communication! Without it, your household will crumble. This is actual factual.
What’s our favorite memory together?
I don’t believe that I have a “favorite” memory because I believe that each moment that we have is special. However, I do have a funny memory. There was this one moment where we were not on speaking terms because we couldn’t decide on food. So I pulled into a restaurant that we had never been to before. Upon arriving and ordering food, we were still not talking. Matter of fact, Kristen didn’t even order anything because she wanted to eat at Cowfish. I ordered ribs, broccoli, and mac. When the food arrived, I pulled the bone out of the ribs. Kristen looked, but she didn’t acknowledge it. She knew my food looked good and I knew she wanted some! I had to then throw my ego away and asked her to try the ribs. After she tried the ribs, we had the best conversation and it was as if none of the prior events had taken place. We left Bricktops with a renewed mind.
I’m definitely going to say when we were dating (for the second time) and Jay asked me had I been to Disney and I told him no. Somehow and some way he took me to Disney. We stayed in this super fancy hotel. It was just a moment of being young, wild, and free!
Disclaimer: I do not want anyone to think that we are perfect, nor do I want to try to even portray that! We literally fuss about the fact that I don’t cook at least once a week! Or the fact that Jay loses his wallet, at minimum, twice a week! I’m not kidding! This is hard work, but it is totally worth it! This is why we encourage couples to stick together! Make it work!
Now show us some love! Cheers to many more years to come! You may even get a baby Spearman by 2026!
